Table Mountain

On our third day in Cape Town we awoke to clear skies and our first view of Table Mountain. We decided to start the day by heading up the mountain for a view of the city. We took the ‘new’ cable car up the mountain and it was quite spectacular; it is a round cable car that rotates 360 degrees during the trip up/down. At the top we hiked around and enjoyed the view of Cape Town and all the way down to Cape Point, taking many pictures along the way.

We enjoyed seeing the dassies, a small animal that lounges in the sun on the rocks, and all of the unique plants on the mesa top. We then headed down the mountainside so that we could make it to the waterfront for our tour of Robben Island, which was again cancelled. We were so frustrated as this was our last chance to see the island. So we’ll be leaving SA without experiencing this famous site, but hopefully this is our only disappointment.
